President's Pick: Costa Rica

With over 25% of the country’s land protected in the form of national parks and reserves, Costa Rica has earned a reputation as one of the world’s most eco-minded countries. With its lush rainforests, spectacular flora, volcanoes, thundering waterfalls, fascinating wildlife and over three hundred species of birds, it’s no wonder it’s one of our most popular winter destinations. Once again, we will operate departures in February and March this winter. The February departure is already sold out!
Come along as we explore this tropical paradise…Tortuguero National Park, where bird watching and wildlife is almost within arms reach. On my adventure there several years ago, it was almost a daily occurrence to hear troupes of monkeys swinging from the trees above our cabins in the rainforest. What a treat to be in the middle of all the excitement. At Arenal Volcano National Park, where there are two active volcanoes, we were able to see tree frogs at night, so took advantage of great photo opportunities. At a very informative tour of a coffee plantation, we learned about the process of farming and roasting the beans. For sure, it has given me an enhanced appreciation of my morning cup of java!
On our upcoming tours, you’ll cruise through the waterways of Palo Verde National Park, one of the most biodiverse areas in Costa Rica. Over 750 species of plants have been identified in the park. During a walk through the Monteverde Cloud Forest with our naturalist guide, you can expect to see howler monkeys, capuchins, white hawks, toucans, woodpeckers, snakes, iguanas and the beautiful quetzals. There is never a dull moment in the Cloud Forest. However, there is some leisure time on occasion to relax by the pool at our comfortable lodges and share stories of the day’s adventures with your travel mates.
Don’t delay! February is sold out and the March departure is 50% sold!
