Choose the Journey Best Suited to You!
Our goal is to provide the best possible travel experience for all participants of our groups. Every group program will have a CT Rating as well as a description so you can determine which journey is best suited to you.
We offer many journeys designed to provide a rich and immersive experience. To achieve this, we ask our members to approach travel with an open mind and a willingness to understand and appreciate the destination they have selected.
Travel involves a great many factors, all of which can affect the enjoyment of the experience.
- Physical Demands
- Transportation
- Accommodation
- Food
- Altitude
- Weather
- Other Local Conditions
We classified our trips based on the combination of these factors, providing a scale of one to five, rating them from Leisurely (CT Rating 1) to Extremely Challenging (CT Rating 5).
Basic Criteria
All travellers must be mobile, able to walk at a reasonable pace for five hundred metres and to negotiate stairs.
Travellers must be able to handle their own hand luggage at all times and their checked luggage when required (e.g. customs).
People with any kind of mobility problems or other physical limitations must discuss their travel requirements with our staff prior to booking their journey.
CT Rating 1 - Leisurely
Travellers should meet the basic criteria.
CT Rating 2 - Moderately Easy
Slightly more physically demanding involving walks of up to one kilometre, which may include uneven terrain. Walk and stop visits to scenic and historic sites may last up to 3 hours.
Many of our tours, river cruises and ocean cruises with extended land programs will fall into this category.
CT Rating 3 to 5 – Moderately to Extremely Challenging
These three levels are reserved for journeys that are more challenging.
They include extensive land programs with longer walks (more challenging conditions like rough surfaces, steep inclines, uneven stairs) and more challenging travel environments (rough roads, long travel days, early starts, etc.).
Journeys will generally involve close encounters with local cultures, regional cuisine, best available accommodations (sometimes a little more basic) and travellers may encounter more extreme environmental conditions (temperatures, humidity, altitude).
Participants need to be in good physical condition to fully appreciate these programs. CT Rating 3 and above require that travellers with any mobility issues discuss their plans with our staff.
DISCLAIMER
These classifications are general in nature and travellers should appreciate that the ratings are relative to the individual person, their past travel experience and their current physical condition.
Our ratings do not cover optional excursions and visits which are not included in the itinerary.
