On arrival, we are transferred to the ship for a light lunch in the Panorama bar. This evening, we will enjoy a Welcome Cocktail reception followed by a special Welcome Dinner with a traditional Shanty Choir performance.

Drive through the historic streets of Arnhem, where the dramatic events of World War II's Operation “Market Garden” unfolded. This military operation involved parachute landings and a significant battle for the Arnhem Bridge, which brought the town melancholic fame. Explore the Airborne Museum in Oosterbeek, once a hotel in mid-1944 before it became the headquarters of the British commander-in-chief, Major General Roy Urquhart, during September of that year. It was from here that Urquhart commanded Operation Market Garden. Notably, the museum received the prestigious 2009 Golden Heron Award for its innovative use of spatial media. In the afternoon, embark on a captivating journey to the Kroller-Muller Museum, renowned for proudly housing the second-largest collection of Van Gogh paintings. Marvel at evocative works by artists such as Piet Mondrian, Paul Gauguin, and Pablo Picasso. As the evening sets in, our enchanting cruise continues as we make our way to Middelburg.

In Middelburg, known for its 1,100 large and small monuments, we'll explore historic merchant houses and canal-side storefronts, once thriving hubs of the Dutch East India Company in the 17th century. Our guided walking tour will showcase the Abbey, the impressive town hall, and old warehouses and monuments. We also have the opportunity to visit Veere, a bustling trading port during the Middle Ages, famed for its wool trade with Scotland. Here, we'll wander the charming streets, pass by the Gothic Grote Kerk cultural centre, and end our visit with a tasting of traditional Dutch specialties such as Bitterballen or Zeeuwse Oysters, complemented by fine wine.

In Ghent, we discover a city that seamlessly blends its medieval legacy with modernity. Its city centre proudly showcases Flemish heritage at every turn. Our guided tour highlights key landmarks, including St. Bavo’s Cathedral, home to the renowned Jan van Eyck triptych altar, Gravensteen Fortress, and the UNESCO-listed Ghent Belfry with its 54 ringing bells. Enjoy some free time to explore the area on your own. Later, we journey to Bruges, often hailed as the "Venice of the North" for its intricate canal network. This romantic city, steeped in medieval charm, invites us to wander its labyrinth of cobblestone streets and canals. Brugge was known as a commercial metropolis in the heart of Europe. Don't miss the historic marketplace, the Burg (site of the former Bruges castle), and the Basilica of the Holy Blood, all nestled within the charming UNESCO-listed historic centre.

Today, we're welcomed to Antwerp, Belgium's second-largest city. Our morning begins with a captivating tour of Brussels, the nation's capital. Explore the lush Laeken area, featuring highlights like the Church of Our Lady of Laeken and the famous Atomium. Then, we drive past scenic boulevards to Cinquantenaire Park, where we'll admire the royal palace and conclude our visit at Europe's oldest shopping mall, with some free time to explore. Then, we venture to Antwerp, one of Europe’s most historic ports. We’ll visit the impressive Cathedral of Our Lady, Belgium's largest Gothic church, and we’ll take a stroll through the charming old town centre, perhaps indulging at a Belgian waffle stand before enjoying free time at your leisure.

Journey to Kinderdijk, home to the largest collection of 18th-century windmills. Originally built to drain water from the soil, these are now UNESCO-protected and a renowned tourist attraction. Alternatively, opt for a harbour cruise of Rotterdam port and a visit to the iconic Market Hall. After, you can choose between exploring the canal town of Delft, famous for its Delft blue ceramics, or immersing yourself in the renowned Keukenhof Gardens. Spanning over 79 acres, it boasts a stunning display of 7 million tulips, narcissi, and hyacinths, complemented by tranquil ponds, vibrant sculpture gardens and lush greenhouses. Conclude the day with a special Captain's Gala Dinner.

Embark on a morning tour and scenic canal cruise to uncover the rich history of Amsterdam. With approximately 7,500 registered historic buildings and 90 islands connected by 400 bridges, our exploration will unveil the city's most notable landmarks, including the captivating Museum Quarter and the majestic Royal Palace. Continuing our adventure, we journey to the picturesque fishing village of Volendam, where we'll leisurely walk through its charming streets. A visit to a local cheese factory will provide us with fascinating insights into the cheese-making process. Lastly, we'll wander through the idyllic village of Edam, soaking in its timeless charm.

All too soon our journey draws to a close as we board our return flights to Canada.
