The magnificence of Europe is best seen and experienced along its extensive river network. This remarkable river cruise begins in Prague and continues through the heart of Europe to Budapest, offering a captivating feast of culture, history, and riches.
Historically, people lived close to the rivers in Europe as they served as the primary routes for commerce and trade. We will wind our way along the beautiful Danube, where music and romance come alive at every turn, passing fabled castles and cathedrals and exploring centuries-old marketplaces.

Itinerary
Tour members from across Canada fly to Prague.
Transportation awaits to take us to our hotel, followed by the balance of the day at leisure to start exploring this beautiful city on your own. Later in the evening we gather for dinner.
Hotel Grandior (3 nights)
This morning’s sightseeing tour reveals why Prague is considered one of Europe’s most attractive cities, with its historic city centre recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Experience a panoramic city tour showcasing the majestic Prague Castle and St. Vitus, then take a stroll across Charles Bridge leading to the Old Town Square. This evening, we will indulge in a Folklore Dinner Show, immersing ourselves in Czech music, dance, and traditions.
Spend a day at your leisure enjoying the many delights Prague has to offer.
Depart Prague after breakfast by motorcoach, with a stop in Pilzen, famed for its pale gold-hued Bavarian style lager. Following some leisure time in Pilzen, enjoy a scenic drive through the pastoral countryside to Passau where we will embark on our luxurious ship. This evening, enjoy a festive welcome dinner aboard the ship.
ms Amadeus Nova ( 7 nights)
Immerse yourself in the historic atmosphere of the three-rivers city of Passau, lying at the confluence of the Danube, the Inn and the Ilz. On our walking tour discover Passau’s captivating blend of ancient charm and modern marvels, from stunning architecture to baroque masterpieces. Hike up the nearby hills to visit the historic fortress of Veste Oberhaus followed by a special Bavarian theme evening on board with regional delicacies and live music as we glide downstream to Linz.
Join the walking tour and explore streets and squares graced with unique churches, music venues, and an array of artists who gather in the city to thrive. A slice of Linzer Torte will sweeten your day, before we proceed to the ship. If you opt for a full-day optional excursion to Salzburg, you will tour the historic centre, Mirabell Gardens, Residenz Square, and the Old Market. En route to Salzburg, stop at Mondsee, home of the famed Basilica St. Michael, and the site of the wedding scene in the Sound of Music.
The Baroque Benedictine abbey of Melk awaits us this morning with its frescoes created by pre-eminent artists of the 18th century, and a magnificent library with priceless manuscripts. Relax this afternoon or choose an optional excursion to Durnstein with either an exploration of the village, or a visit to a local vineyard to sample some of the region’s famous Gruner Veltliner wines. Next, to Vienna where our ship remains overnight.
During our morning city tour of Vienna, you will have the opportunity to see the impressive Vienna Opera House, the former Imperial Palace, Museum Quarter, and the historic St. Stephen’s Cathedral. We conclude our Vienna experience with a Sound of Vienna concert, where the Alt Orchestra will enchant us with beloved pieces from the city’s classical era.
After overnight cruising, we awaken in this gem on the Danube, the enchanting capital of Slovakia. As we explore, we’ll discover many treasures of Bratislava: the home of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, the historic old city walls, the archbishop's summer residence, and the current residence of the president of Slovakia. Along the way, we will marvel at the stunning, panoramic views of the city and its surrounding areas.
In Esztergom and Szentendre, the Hungarian countryside offers exploration opportunities with a basilica dedicated to Saint Mary, as well as a variety of art galleries and museums. We discover the the dynamic Hungarian capital today, as we wander the alleys of the vibrant Great Market Hall brimming with vendors offering a wide range of delectable food and unique souvenirs. Explore the twin cities of Buda and Pest, which are spread over both banks of the Danube River. Delve into the rich history of Budapest by exploring the medieval monuments and fascinating museums found on Castle Hill, including the main square with the old City Hall and historical Opera House. You can also hike up to Castle Hill for breathtaking views of the city below.
Our journey comes to an end as we disembark and transfer to the airport to catch our flights bound for cities across Canada.
