Boston, New England’s largest city, is home to both historic and modern neighbourhoods. Art lovers will want to visit the Farnsworth Art Museum and Wyeth Center, which features paintings from three generations of the Wyeth family, as well as sculptures by Louise Nevelson. Halifax, Nova Scotia's provincial capital, is known for its maritime history, including bunkers, fortresses, and nautical museums. Charlottetown is the capital of Canada’s smallest province, Prince Edward Island, and its largest city, though it has fewer than 35,000 residents. Despite its size, the city has an impressive number of Victorian houses and buildings, and great parks waiting to be explored. It is most famous as the Birthplace of Confederation, where an 1864 conference at Province House led to the formation of Canada.  Sites within downtown include Victoria Row and other historic buildings, some of which are now museums. Nearby Prince Edward Island     National Park is home to white-sand beaches and hiking and biking trails - plus fans of Anne of Green Gables can also see the house and farm that inspired the story. Québec City, one of North America's oldest settlements, is a living museum of French colonial history with its intact fortifications and UNESCO-listed historic district. Despite changing hands to British control in 1759, the city remains a stronghold of French culture, with over 95% of its population speaking French as their first language. Visitors can explore centuries of history through landmarks like Place-Royale and the Plains of Abraham, while enjoying the city's distinctive Québécois cuisine and welcoming atmosphere.
