Terry Greenberg has been an inveterate traveller since the age of 20 when he began a life of overseas travel by backpacking in Africa and Asia. Since that time he has visited over 90 countries, and lived abroad over 25 years. Terry is now retired from his career as a Foreign Service officer with the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs where he served a total of 18 years abroad in Canadian embassies and consulates. Academically he focused his studies on the international scene with his first degree from the University of British Columbia in Asian Area Studies, and his second degree from Royal Roads University in Intercultural Communication. Along the way he has acquired three Asian languages; Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin) and Thai. His favourite hobby is mountain walking in the pursuit of which he has explored mountain ranges on every continent, except Antarctica. Second only to travel is Terry’s love of sharing his experiences and knowledge of distant places with the students that he has taught at universities and colleges in Vancouver, and with passengers on cruise ships where he is a frequent lecturer.
