BURMA (my preferred name for the country), has undergone many changes since I first travelled there back in 1971.  Back then, visitors were extremely limited and one could only secure a Visa for 3 days. What a whirlwind adventure that was.   I managed to visit Mandalay and Bagan as well as Rangoon (modern Yangon).

During our CraigTravel tour of Peru in 2007 our last stop was at Ceiba Tops Lodge on the Amazon River. A small, inconspicuous sign on the dining room wall invited contributions to an “Adopt a School Program”, sponsored by the Detroit Zoological Society. The sign aroused our curiosity. Following further investigation, we decided to support the program financially.

In February, 2013, I led a fabulous trip to Myanmar and Thailand. It was a trip of a lifetime! Why? I knew about the beauty of Thailand but was not very familiar with Myanmar. Myanmar turned out to be one of the most interesting and unique countries that I have ever visited.

Any time I page through a travel brochure - something I am prone to do - I have always found that Africa is the destination that beckons me most. I have had wonderful times touring ancient and beautiful cities and marvelling at man’s achievements in art and architecture, but being an avid bird and animal lover and a retired professional photographer, Africa offers me the things I love most.

Recently, I read an article on website cruisecritic.com, discussing safety tips to consider and be aware of before booking your cruise ship shore excursions and want to share these ideas with you. With spring now upon us, our minds are undoubtedly thinking about the coming "green" season. And nowhere is this more relevant than in Ireland, the Emerald Isle and the destination that reminds me most of lush greens, wonderful coastlines, quaint villages, wonderful, friendly faces and, of course, the local pub - the centre of Irish social life. This year we are seeing more interest and more flights to Ireland than ever before. And could there be a better way to put the blahs of our long, frigid winter behind us than anticipating a journey to this ever-so-enchanting destination?

Our New Zealand / Australia adventure was coming to a close….last stop, Sydney.  Nestled around its magnificent harbour, Sydney is a lively, multifaceted city, the pride of its citizens and the gateway to Australia.

Well here we are at the end of our trip
It has gone by at quite a zip.
Nairobi was the city of our first day
Weary we were after that long way,
But up bright and early the very next morn
To the elephants whose mothers were killed for their horn.

What fun it was to kiss a giraffe -
That will give the folks at home quite a laugh.
Then to Sweetwaters to sample the tent camp
Only thing missing was a big bright lamp!

When you travel, you may find it difficult to get a good night's sleep. Travel jitters, unfamiliar beds and jet lag can all interfere with quality sleep.  When this happens, it can reduce your ability to think clearly, react quickly and deal with stress.  Disrupted sleep may also make you an unpleasant travel companion and even weaken your immune system, leaving you more susceptible to illness.  Try these trips to maximize your sleep.....
