Worst of Times Best of Times

Sometimes the worst of times brings out the best in people. We have seen extraordinary good deeds by ordinary people this past couple of months, a testament to the basic kindness of humanity. It is a blessing to know that people do pull together when times are tough and dire situations are staring us in the face.

During this time of uncertainty, the South Africa Soup Kitchen that Craig Travel and our travellers support is struggling. Many of our Craig Travellers make monetary donations when visiting during our tours of South Africa, but with the current travel restrictions, tourists are no longer visiting and helping this important cause.

Jallof Rice

“This rice recipe comes from Nigeria and is a favourite of mine. Cooking the rice with tomatoes and peppers makes it fragrant and deepens the flavor. ”

During this time of uncertainty and isolation, and for David and Roslyn Craig's forced quarantine, although we do remain open for business we are working remotely from home in order to limit the spread and flatten the curve.  We believe in facing challenges together, and we’ll continue to do everything we can to contribute to a future that's safe and free to travel our world. We look forward to a time when the doors are open once again!

It is remarkable how much life can change in such a short time.

The outbreak of COVID-19 has changed the face of travel on a global scale. Governments and communities around the world are taking stronger action to limit the spread and flatten the curve. Orders for staying at home, complete lock downs, and states of emergency are quickly becoming the norm. Our government has issued a level 3 avoid all non-essential travel advisory for all international travel and just recently, the long awaited Oberammergau Passion Play performances have been postponed until 2022.

We are all too aware of the current outbreak of COVID-19 and its potential impact. During this time of heightened awareness and in depth news coverage, it is vital that we understand the reality of the situation. We are still in the early stages of the outbreak and details are developing daily. The news media, while informative, will always focus on shock value to grab attention, clicks, and headlines. In this respect, they tend to focus on negative aspects in any situation while underreporting the positive news. As of this writing, there are over 84,000 cases worldwide.
