Something’s been missing in my life. It feels like a long distance love affair that has eluded me.
Those sultry, romantic, adventurous feelings persist, but alas, I am unable to reach that place where my lover exists. How and when will I get there and what will this new experience entail? Feeling intrigued?
It’s hard to believe, but yes, we are busy signing contracts and blocking space on tours departing in 2023! This is in keeping with normal times when itineraries are confirmed a year or more in advance of departure. We have just launched our first such tour to Rajasthan, Northern India departing January 30 next year. Rajasthan’s “Deserts, Castles and Palaces” is one of our popular annual tours and one of the most diverse destinations.
In less than five months, the long anticipated start of “The Passion Play” taking place in Bavaria’s charming town of Oberammergau, will begin. An event of this magnitude happens only once every ten years and is cause for great anticipation around the world. Two thousand actors are in the midst of final wardrobe fittings, the building of props is nearing completion, rehearsals are taking place and the town is abuzz with excitement.
Roslyn and I recently returned from our first overseas adventure in almost two years, which involved flights to and from Barbados and a two-week cruise to the southern Caribbean. Yes, we faced some restrictions and were tested a number of times, but all were far less imposing than we expected. Every step of the journey was easy and smooth, and at no point did we feel at risk.
Craig Travel clients continue to be supportive with their generous contributions to Wesley United Church’s AfriCAN Link Fund which raises money to provide a daily bowl of soup and a slice of bread to the many adults and children in dire need in the Plettenberg Bay area of South Africa. And at no other time has the need been as great as it is today. The Covid-19 pandemic has dealt a terrible blow to employment and to food donations from local suppliers and donors. On behalf of all of those in South Africa who have benefitted from these donations this past year, thank you!
Several years ago, I had the pleasure of leading a group to Costa Rica and I am happy to say that this amazing country was everything and more than I anticipated. This lush, tropical paradise has been an annual favourite for Craig travellers, to the point where we have operated two departures each winter for many years.
Without a doubt, Romania has no shortage of jaw-dropping scenery...landscape dotted with rugged stone churches, dazzling monasteries and Transylvanian towns from medieval times! The varied landscape with rocky mountains, rolling hills and deep gorges showcases some of the world's most impressive surroundings.
It’s been a long time coming, but finally the government of Canada has lifted the global “non-essential” travel advisory for Canadian citizens who are fully vaccinated. The nation or region based advisory system has now returned. Globally, vaccination rates are increasing and countries are moving to relax travel restrictions and reopen borders; all good news for the travel deprived who are tired of the confines of their homes. This announcement is sure to bring back international travel in a big way.
