Photo Showcase - Featuring Wilma Yurko

Post date: Author:

Life's little moments are meant to be captured, shared, and celebrated! For that reason, we're celebrating photos submitted into our photo contest starting with Craig Traveller Wilma Yurko.  With her below photos and more, Wilma has earned herself some wins in our photo contest as well as several honourable mentions with her ability to capture great shots during her travels with us. She tells us that her keen interest in travel was inspired by the amazing and curious images popping out of National Geographic and Life Magazine pages.  So fascinating and colourful!  Seeing images that brightened up the world for her stimulated her keen interest in capturing her own.  We are all really impressed with the results, enjoy the display!

Wilma's Insight on Photography

Choosing a camera which has an eye piece is so helpful.  If you are restricted to the LCD screen, many times you can't see what you're shooting, the screen would be black.  With the eye piece you can see the subject.

To really have fun with a camera, the ability to zoom in on your subject is wonderful.  It allows you to move in to the precise distance you wish to capture your image from.  Instead of seeing two zebra from far off in the field, you can now move in and fill the photo with them up close.

With a SLR camera, which I used some years ago, my go to lens was a wide angle zoom lens. A marvelous toy!  But in the past ten years I have found the higher level of aim and shoot cameras provide a great alternative to the SLR's.  They are somewhat larger size to hold steady, and have the amazing zoom lens, and are not heavy.
