Elaine Young has just recently retired from employment with the government after 25 years. She is now looking forward to sharing her love of travel and meeting new people with all those who join her. She has always had an interest in learning about new cultures and the history of various countries. Her past travels have taken her throughout Panama, Columbia, Honduras, Roatan, Venezuela, and Cuba. She is looking forward to new experiences and helping to make the trips she will lead ones of a lifetime.
We are most pleased to have the Archdeacon Gerald Peddle escorting this journey. While Gerry is now retired, he was most recently the National Director of the Pastoral Outreach Program, providing care to Veterans. He previously served in Canada's military for 28 years until he retired as the Chaplain General in 1999. During that time he traveled extensively in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and throughout North America. Since retiring, he has been escorting groups for us to a variety of worldwide destinations. We are sure his background and love of travel will ensure a rewarding experience for all who join him on this fascinating journey.
A long-time member of the Craig Travel staff, Gilda is the Operations Manager. Born in Hong Kong, she began travelling in Asia at the age of four. Having lived in Hong Kong, Japan and Hawaii, she has made her home in Toronto for the past twenty years, and has worked with the Hong Kong Tourist Board and tour operators specializing in the Asia. Over the years she has led a number of groups to China, South East Asia and Europe.
We are pleased to have Rev. Heather and Peter Scott escort this exciting journey. Peter is a retired Executive Secretary of London Conference of The United Church of Canada and Heather is currently serving in a team ministry in a rural United Church pastoral charge near Chatham, Ontario. Heather and Peter have escorted Craig tours to Oberammergau and central Europe, Ireland and Israel. They have cruised to Alaska, participated in Habitat for Humanity builds in Paraguay, Tajikistan, New Zealand and Hawaii and are looking forward to sharing this exciting adventure with you!
A native of Newfoundland, Ian is an inveterate traveller, having spent a good part of his life visiting various parts of the world including the Mediterranean, the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, Greece, South America, China and Tibet, South Africa, Morocco and most recently Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. He has escorted groups on our behalf to numerous destinations and is looking forward to sharing this wonderful experience with you.
James Railton and Claire Wittenberg are excited to be escorting this amazing journey. James and Claire met while working in immigration and both retired in 2018. They married in 2010 and have three children and four grandchildren between them. James, lawyer and mediator, has lived and worked in Niagara, Toronto, Ottawa, East Africa and Vancouver. His travels include Western Europe, the Caribbean islands, East Africa, Cuba, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Ethiopia and Egypt. James was a District Director for International Service for Rotary. Claire was a Foreign Service officer who has lived and worked in Toronto, Ottawa, Buffalo, Bogota, Islamabad and Buffalo. She has travelled extensively through South America, North Africa, the Middle East, Spain, Pakistan, Italy, France and Germany. They look forward to sharing this experience with you!
Janet retired after 35 years in the teaching profession. According to Janet, being a tour guide is the perfect retirement activity! It combines her passion for travel and love of new experiences and cultures with the enjoyment of sharing all of this with passengers from all across Canada. She has done extensive personal travelling and has also lead successful trips on our behalf to many parts of the world. This includes Myanmar, China, Russia, Australia and New Zealand, Egypt, Tunisia, Madagascar, South America as well as many parts of Europe. She is always looking forward to sharing a wonderful travel experience with Craig Travellers!
We are pleased to have Jenny Craig, daughter of David and Roslyn, to escort this trip. Having graduated with a history degree from the University of Western Ontario, Jenny decided to pursue her love of travel and graduated with Honours from the travel course at Humber College. She has been exploring the world, travelling to places across six continents. Jenny has escorted groups on our behalf to Alaska and most recently to China. She is excited by this travel opportunity and looks forward to sharing this journey with you.
Jennifer Kempa lived in India and Britain before making Canada her home in 1992. She has held various roles at Craig Travel since 2005, including General Manager for twelve years, before she retired to become our Senior Management Advisor. An avid traveller, she has explored many parts of India and the world, including the South Pacific, East Africa, through much of Europe, North America, including the Canadian Rockies and Alaska. She has explored Cuba extensively with her husband Andrew and escorted journeys to the Ukraine, Adriatic Coast, Bermuda, India, South Africa and most recently Costa Rica as well as cruises with Star Clipper and Crystal Cruises. She recently moved to her new home in Niagara.
Joan Pitman was in the airline industry for 25 years and remains in the travel industry today. As a Tour Director she has travelled extensively to Alaska, Asia, across Canada and the US as well as Europe. Personal travel has taken her to Europe, South America, Australia, Asia, New Zealand, Africa, Central America, and Bali. A Whistler weekender since the mid 70’s, and a full time resident from 2000, Joan and her husband George also maintain a home in Vancouver. Joan and George have 6 children between them and 9 grandchildren. They are looking forward to sharing this exciting journey with all those who will join them.
