Elaine Young has just recently retired from employment with the government after 25 years. She is now looking forward to sharing her love of travel and meeting new people with all those who join her. She has always had an interest in learning about new cultures and the history of various countries. Her past travels have taken her throughout Panama, Columbia, Honduras, Roatan, Venezuela, and Cuba. She is looking forward to new experiences and helping to make the trips she will lead ones of a lifetime.
A long-time member of the Craig Travel staff, Gilda is the Operations Manager. Born in Hong Kong, she began travelling in Asia at the age of four. Having lived in Hong Kong, Japan and Hawaii, she has made her home in Toronto for the past twenty years, and has worked with the Hong Kong Tourist Board and tour operators specializing in the Asia. Over the years she has led a number of groups to China, South East Asia and Europe.
A native of Newfoundland, Ian is an inveterate traveller, having spent a good part of his life visiting various parts of the world including the Mediterranean, the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, Greece, South America, China and Tibet, South Africa, Morocco and most recently Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. He has escorted groups on our behalf to numerous destinations and is looking forward to sharing this wonderful experience with you.
James Railton and Claire Wittenberg are excited to be escorting this amazing journey. James and Claire met while working in immigration and both retired in 2018. They married in 2010 and have three children and four grandchildren between them. James, lawyer and mediator, has lived and worked in Niagara, Toronto, Ottawa, East Africa and Vancouver. His travels include Western Europe, the Caribbean islands, East Africa, Cuba, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Ethiopia and Egypt. James was a District Director for International Service for Rotary. Claire was a Foreign Service officer who has lived and worked in Toronto, Ottawa, Buffalo, Bogota, Islamabad and Buffalo. She has travelled extensively through South America, North Africa, the Middle East, Spain, Pakistan, Italy, France and Germany. They look forward to sharing this experience with you!
Janet retired after 35 years in the teaching profession. According to Janet, being a tour guide is the perfect retirement activity! It combines her passion for travel and love of new experiences and cultures with the enjoyment of sharing all of this with passengers from all across Canada. She has done extensive personal travelling and has also lead successful trips on our behalf to many parts of the world. This includes Myanmar, China, Russia, Australia and New Zealand, Egypt, Tunisia, Madagascar, South America as well as many parts of Europe. She is always looking forward to sharing a wonderful travel experience with Craig Travellers!
We are pleased to have Jenny Craig, daughter of David and Roslyn, to escort this trip. Having graduated with a history degree from the University of Western Ontario, Jenny decided to pursue her love of travel and graduated with Honours from the travel course at Humber College. She has been exploring the world, travelling to places across six continents. Jenny has escorted groups on our behalf to Alaska and most recently to China. She is excited by this travel opportunity and looks forward to sharing this journey with you.
Joan Pitman was in the airline industry for 25 years and remains in the travel industry today. As a Tour Director she has travelled extensively to Alaska, Asia, across Canada and the US as well as Europe. Personal travel has taken her to Europe, South America, Australia, Asia, New Zealand, Africa, Central America, and Bali. A Whistler weekender since the mid 70’s, and a full time resident from 2000, Joan and her husband George also maintain a home in Vancouver. Joan and George have 6 children between them and 9 grandchildren. They are looking forward to sharing this exciting journey with all those who will join them.
Joan and her husband Roger have travelled many parts of the Caribbean as well as Asia and Europe. A graduate of the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture has certainly led the way to the family farm in Innisfil. Their experience in working for the Red Cross has introduced them to many lands and cultures. They look forward to sharing and exchanging stories with you.
We are very pleased to have Johan Olivier escorting this fascinating adventure. Johan has been in full time ministry since 1983. He lived in South Africa where he served in the Dutch Reformed Church for 20 years. While in South Africa, he had the opportunity to escort groups to Jordan, Egypt, Israel, Thailand and Singapore, Europe as well as to the Passion Play in 2000. He has served in the Presbyterian Church in Canada since 2003 and came to Knox Presbyterian Church in Guelph in 2009. He looks forward to sharing his love of travel with all who join him on unique discoveries of the world.
Well known to many of our past guests, John Pollard has escorted numerous tours and cruises on our behalf, to such diverse destinations as China, the South Pacific, Alaska, Africa, the United Kingdom and Europe. A graduate of the University of Toronto, John retired after thirty-three years of teaching, to pursue his love of travel. His enjoyment of people and his great interest in travel together with his extensive experience in escorting groups to a wide variety of worldwide destinations, are sue to enhance this delightful journey.
