Cruise Lines Donate to Rebuild Hope in the Caribbean

Post date: Author:

It is no doubt that September 2017 has been a tough month for the Caribbean Islands encountering the hurricanes Irma and Maria. The impacts of the hurricanes have had tourism impacts on the islands and several cruises needed to change or cancel their itineraries to the affected area.

The tourism industry is important to the Caribbean, being a financial key to their well being. During times like these, support is essential for the recovery of this beautiful region. Numerous cruise lines including Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and many more have shown their support by delivering supplies, bringing aid in evacuations, charitable contributions and donations to the islands that have suffered damage, thereby transforming the ships from vacation paradises to floating help for the isles in need. The Carnival Corp. (CCL), the parent company of Holland America Line, Carnival, Princess Cruises, Costa Cruises and others, have in corporation with two other entities donated up to 10 million dollars for the rebuilding and recovery of the Caribbean Islands and the state of Florida.

Oceania Cruises have also launched the Hope Starts Here program, in hope to gather $2.5 million worth of donations to the islands that were hit the hardest. The cruise line encourages all cruise enthusiasts and those with a big heart to be part of one of their thirteen Hope Starts Here Voyages. By reserving by November 15, 2017, the cruise line will make a donation of $500 per stateroom to All Hands Volunteers and will provide you with a supplementary $500 savings off your veranda stateroom fare.

These events were hard on the Caribbean Islands, but some areas were thankfully spared without heavy damage. This means that tourism in these areas is still active with beautiful beaches and ports of call are there waiting for you. The major cruise lines such as Holland America Line are doing their best to maintain their winter sailings schedule allowing our two unique voyages through the Caribbean and the Panama Canal to happen. The best support that you, as a traveller, can bring, is to keep visiting and enjoying these islands that are still paradise-like. Be part of this incredible moment of solidarity and help the recovery of the Caribbean islands move forward more quickly. It is doubly rewarding helping the Caribbean islands rebuild while still enjoying an amazing and unforgettable cruise to a paradise like no other.
